The Saply Story: Uncovering the Truth Behind Mushroom Drinks
Share
The journey with mushrooms began when a friend of mine (now my co-founder, Eva) was captivated by an ad for a trendy mushroom coffee product. The marketing promised everything: reduced anxiety, sharpened focus, better sleep, enhanced energy, improved gut health, and a boost in physical performance. It sounded like the ultimate life-hack—one drink that could offer tenfold returns. Naturally, our curiosity got the best of us, and we had to try it. We wanted to know if the claims held up and whether the science backed it.
What happened next? We opened Pandora’s box. Soon, we were bombarded by an endless stream of targeted ads. Dozens of functional mushroom drinks appeared on our screens, each offering a dizzying array of features, ingredients, prices, and user testimonials. We were caught in a whirlwind of marketing tactics, all designed to convince us that more is better—that if you just have the right product, your life will be transformed.
But is that really true? Can value only be measured by how many things it promises to do?
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
We sampled almost every mushroom drink on the market (seriously, you can find 40 to 50 options on Google Shopping). Not one of them left us satisfied.
- Some used the mycelium instead of the fruiting body (and let’s be clear: the fruiting body is what you want—think of it like eating the spinach leaves instead of the roots).
- Others relied on cheap dried powders rather than potent extracts your body can actually absorb.
- Many offered a mix of so many so-called mushrooms that none were in quantities high enough to be effective (pro tip: each type of mushroom typically needs at least 1000 mg per serving to deliver the expected result).
- Ingredient lists kept growing longer, adding complexity and boosting price tags.
- And don’t get me started on the subscription models—great for business, not for my wallet.
Why was every brand complicating things? All I needed was a simple solution to help me focus and de-stress. That’s it. The constant search for the “perfect” mushroom coffee was distracting me from what I really wanted—clarity and calm.
So, we did my homework. After countless hours of research, failed attempts, and kitchen disasters, we finally came up with something that worked and tested by science lab.

These drinks became part of my daily ritual, bringing simplicity and purpose back into my life. High-purity extracts, focused functions—nothing extra. I felt more clear-headed, slept better, and avoided the jitters or crashes. It was what a functional drink had always promised but never delivered.
I believe in doing less, not more—following the principle of Occam’s Razor. When it comes to choices, the best decision is often the simplest. Nature is powerful, purity lasts, and simplicity is beautiful.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” — Leonard da Vinci
